For the problem of not having a good translation tool when using Discord, using openai-translator+SnipDo is a good solution.
This tutorial is only for Windows users. MacOS users need to replace SnipDo with 🔗PopClip
Install Discord#
Download from the 🔗official website...
Install openai-translator#
Download the latest version from 🔗here, and double-click to install:
After installation, open the software and go to settings from the bottom left corner of the page to do some simple settings:
- Change the language of the software interface to
Simplified Chinese - Fill in the API key. If you don't have a key, you need to generate one from 🔗here
- Enable
Fixed Position - Set
Startup at boot, the software runs in the background for a long time with minimal memory usage
- Change the writing target language to
English - Set
Writing Shortcutaccording to your own preference
Then save!
At this point, the software openai-translator is installed and set up.
Install SnipDo#
You can directly search and install SnipDo in the built-in app store of Windows, or you can install it through this 🔗link:
After the software is installed, download 🔗openai-translator.pbar, and double-click to install.
Open SnipDo, you can see OpenAI Translator under Text Extensions (if you don't see it, double-click to install the openai-translator.pbar you just downloaded), and enable it.

In the settings, check Start at boot and Run as administrator:
At this point, the SnipDo software is installed and set up.
Test Usage#
Translation Test#
Open Discord, find an English chat channel, select a paragraph of English, and the global menu bar will pop up. Click the button, and the translation interface will pop up and automatically translate:
Writing Test#
To use the writing function, it's very simple. Enter Chinese in any chat text box, and press the Writing Shortcut you just set, without any other operations! After pressing it, the Chinese will be automatically translated into English:
